The Cowgirls have rounded out their 2012 recruiting class adding Aubry Boehme from Otero Junior College in La Junta, CO. Aubry joins the Cowgirls after two extremely successful seasons with the Otero Rattlers. Boehme broke the school records for field goal percentage at 55%, and blocked shots with 94. She is only the second player to break 1000 points, finishing with 1041. In her final season at Otero, Aubry averaged a team high 17 points per game, 6.6 rebounds, earned 56 blocks and 100 steals. Aubry earned 1st team All American honors for Division II, as well as an All tournament selection for the Region IX tournament. Overall, Aubry is an outstanding player with amazing potential to shine at the Division I level. We are thrilled to have her join the Cowgirls and can’t wait to see her in action next fall. Aubry joins Fallon Lewis, transfer out of Sheridan Community College, Marquelle Dent from Regis High School in Denver, and Whitney Gordon from Marion High School in Marion Kansas to round out the Cowgirls 2012 signees!

It’s awesome to be a Cowgirl! Not only do the Cowgirls have amazing adventures during the season, they travel in style. One of the advantages of being a Cowgirl Basketball player is chartering flights. Instead of flying commercial, waiting in security lines, checking bags and having assigned seats, the Cowgirls head out to their private plane and off they go. Be sure to check out the Cowgirls posing in front of their jet. (A special thanks to Key Lime Air for providing amazing service to us all year!)
The Cowgirls also met Junior Seau this year at his restaurant. Not only did Junior take time out of his busy schedule to chat with the coaches, but he gave an inspirational speech to the Cowgirls. After his speech, the Cowgirls went on an impressive winning streak.
We also visited the USS Howard Destroyer. The Cowgirls made some lasting friendships and also learned that the USS Howard is one of the few Naval Ships that has a female Captain. This was an amazing learning experience for the Cowgirls one they won’t soon forget.
During the Mountain West Conference tournament, the Cowgirls pulled off an epic victory against the higher seeded TCU Horned Frogs. As a result the Cowgirls headed out on the Vegas strip to see Cirque du Soleil Mystere at the Treasure Island Hotel. The girls also participated in this year’s Thank-a-Thon. The Cowgirls called a number of our Cowboy Joe Club members just to say thank you for all of their continued support! These are just some of the highlights the Cowgirls had off the court this year. The Cowgirls also pulled off some amazing wins this year. A huge win at The Pit in New Mexico, an overtime win at UNLV, and an extremely intense overtime win against rival CSU.
It has definitely been a great year for the Cowgirls and we look forward to continuing their success next season!
